3 Takeaways
1. Self-care is NOT selfish.
Oftentimes, we wear multiple hats and juggle many balls. Unfortunately, I learned the importance of self-care the hard way. I was a wife, mother of 2, graduate student, working an internship, and running 2 businesses when I had a brief emotional breakdown. It was in that moment that I realized I could not do it all and must prioritize self-care if I was going to succeed.
2. Self-worth cannot be earned.
In 2007, I was pronounced brain dead and paralyzed after a “fatal” car wreck. Although my physical recovery was swift, my emotional recovery caused unseen wounds to rise to the surface. I struggled with the belief of not being good enough. Later, I learned how limiting beliefs affect our personal and professional lives at a subconscious level.
3. Self-discipline is key.
Examples from the above stories illustrate that no matter how bad you desire something, it only becomes your reality after you combine the right mindset with the right actions.
